North of the Border: A Canadian Perspective on Pensions and Member Engagement
As NPEA welcomes Canadian pension organizations to its conference for the first time, attendees will hear directly from Canadian pension professionals about how their plans are structured and the members they serve. The panel will introduce key differences in legislation, plan design, governance, and the broader retirement environment between Canada and the United States.
Against that backdrop, panelists will discuss how they engage, educate, communicate with, and support their members. The conversation will explore how each country’s pension environment shapes member service, while highlighting the many engagement challenges, priorities, and experiences are shared by pension professionals on both sides of the border.

Chad Rumsey, Manager - Pension Administration at Provident10
Chad Rumsey is Manager, Pension Administration at Provident10, where he has held leadership roles since 2018. With more than 19 years of experience in financial services, including 11 years in the insurance industry, he has held leadership positions in customer service, pension administration, process improvement, and team development. Chad is passionate about enhancing the member experience and helping Canadians better understand and maximize the value of their workplace pension benefits. He is helping to develop a comprehensive member education program that supports members throughout their pension journey, from enrollment to retirement, and facilitates monthly Retirement Ready seminars for members approaching retirement.
Jason Durdle, CPA-CA, MBA, BComm, BSc
Jason Durdle, CPA-CA, MBA, BComm, BSc is Vice President, Pensions at Provident10, where he provides strategic leadership and oversight of pension administration, operations, and member services for one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest pension plans. An experienced operations executive with extensive expertise in pensions, finance, governance, and organizational leadership, Jason has built a strong reputation for delivering operational excellence and improving member-focused services.
Jason holds professional accounting and business credentials, including a CPA-CA designation, MBA, Bachelor of Commerce, and Bachelor of Science. He is actively involved in the Canadian pension industry, serving as Vice Chair of the Atlantic Regional Council of the Association of Canadian Pension Management (ACPM) and contributing to numerous professional and industry initiatives that support the advancement of pension plan governance and administration.
Vincent Houle, Director – Canadian Pension Practice, Linea Solutions
Vincent is the Director of the Canadian Pension Practice at Linea Solutions and has been in the Pension and Benefits administration industry for 20 years. He started his career working for a Pension Administration Third party administrator, performing all pension administration duties firsthand and has worked for a pension software company. This experience led him to join Linea Solutions 10 years ago, where he has been a strategic partner for a variety of funds, large and small, in North America, guiding them through their modernization journey. He has led multiple exciting initiatives such as defining modernization strategies and roadmaps, re-engineering outdated processes, procuring new Pension Administration Systems, integrating ancillary tools such as Portals, CRM, Workflows, Electronic Content Management, and provided oversight on system implementations.
These initiatives are very complex; yet, have one objective in common; improving the services to your members. Through his experience, Vincent has obtained deep knowledge of both the Canadian and US pension landscapes, their similarities and differences, and has observed, firsthand, how various Pension funds approach member services.
Vincent holds a degree in Actuarial Mathematics from Concordia University and has obtained a Change Management certification from Prosci. He is also actively involved in the industry, currently being the Chair of the Strategic Initiatives Committee for the Association of Canadian Pension Management.
